Privacy Policy
Last updated:
Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what Gamebrary (gamebrary.com, operated by Dugout Master LLC, Arizona, United States) collects, why, who processes it, and the choices you have. We only collect what we need to run Gamebrary for you, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t show ads.
What we store
When you use Gamebrary signed in, we store the following in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage). Everything is private to you unless noted.
- Account
- Your Firebase Authentication account: email address, sign-in methods (password or Google), email verification status, and sign-in timestamps. Passwords are handled by Firebase and never visible to us.
- Settings
- Theme, language, preferred age-rating system, navigation position, thumbnail and transparency preferences, display name and dashboard wallpaper.
- Library
- Games you add, with status, progress, rating, platform, start/completion dates, favourite and release-reminder flags, and Steam playtime if you link Steam.
- Tags
- Your tags (name and colours) and which games they are on.
- Notes
- Your notes, optionally linked to a game.
- Boards
- Your boards, their lists and cards, look (colours, background) and visibility. If you copy someone’s public board, the copy records which board it came from.
- Uploads
- Wallpaper images you upload, stored in Firebase Cloud Storage with their name, type and size. We automatically create a 300×300 thumbnail of each.
- Social
- Companies you follow, and the notifications we send you (for example release reminders).
- Activity
- Play sessions and speedrun times you log.
- Reports
- Reports you submit about a public board: the target, the reason and your details.
- Integrations
- Your linked Steam account (see below).
We also keep a cache of public game data (from IGDB, Steam, GOG, Wikipedia and speedrun.com) that isn’t about you.
What other people can see
By default, nothing. Boards you set to public (or unlisted, for anyone with the link) are visible to anyone, including the background wallpaper they use.
Steam
If you choose to link Steam, you sign in on Steam’s own site (Steam OpenID) and we never see your Steam password. We store your SteamID64, your Steam profile name and avatar URL, when we last synced and the result of the last import. Using the Steam Web API we read your owned games and their playtime, add them to your library and save each game’s total playtime. Unlinking Steam deletes the link; games already imported stay in your library until you remove them.
Security and abuse prevention
Gamebrary uses Firebase App Check with Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise to make sure requests come from the real app. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information (such as device and browser data) and sends it to Google for analysis; its use is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms. Our servers also keep short-lived, in-memory request counts to rate-limit abuse.
Who processes your data
- Google (Firebase / Google Cloud) hosts the app and stores your data (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, App Check).
- Google, if you sign in with Google, shares your name, email address and profile picture with Firebase Authentication.
- Valve (Steam), only if you link Steam, as described above.
- Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd), only if you buy Gamebrary Plus: Paddle is the merchant of record and collects your payment details, billing address and email under its own privacy policy. We receive the order, your Paddle customer and subscription ids and what was bought — never your card number — and keep that with your account so we can grant access, show your gift codes and handle refunds.
- Game images and videos are loaded directly from their providers (for example IGDB’s image servers and YouTube), so those services see your IP address and browser details when your browser fetches them.
We don’t share personally identifying information with anyone else, except when required to by law.
Your browser
Firebase keeps your sign-in session in your browser’s storage. We also store a few preferences there (such as your theme and unsaved note drafts). We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
Exporting and deleting your data
- Export: download a copy of your data from Settings in the Gamebrary app.
- Edit or remove: you can change or delete any of your content and your uploads at any time in the app.
- Delete your account: in Settings in the Gamebrary app. Deletion runs on our servers and permanently removes your account and every record listed above — including your uploads and their thumbnails, your Steam link, your follows, notifications and reports — and then your Firebase Authentication account. Copies other people made of your public boards are theirs and are not removed.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as you have an account and delete it when you delete your account. Cached game data expires and is refreshed automatically. Data may persist for a limited time in Google’s backups and logs before it is overwritten, in line with Google Cloud’s retention practices.
Children
Gamebrary is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links
Gamebrary links to sites we don’t operate. We have no control over their content and practices and can’t accept responsibility for their privacy policies.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed; for significant changes we will give notice in the app.
